Owen loves my hair short. I just like to change it. So after spending the last two years growing it out from jaw length, I chopped it off for Owen's anniversary surprise. I even had enough to donate it to Locks of Love.
Before
After
I'll be honest -- I'm very much missing my hair. And I'm still not entirely sure how to make it look like I want it to so that makes me miss my hair even more. I know I'll get used to it eventually, but I'm still in the what-was-I-thinking? stage. At least Owen loves it. He's the reason I did it anyway.

The Luckiest
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

I really feel like I'm the luckiest girl ever. I am married to my best friend and he is amazing in so many ways. I'm excited for an eternity full of anniversaries. Love you, Owen. Muah!!

Busted
Setting -- Owen and Haylee are getting ready for church in our bedroom when Miriam comes in the room.
Miriam: "I want some more."
Haylee: "You want some more what?"
Miriam: "I want some more chocolate."
Owen: (with a guilty smirk) "You weren't supposed to tell mom about that."

Getting a Jump Start on Halloween
In our front room we have this funky blue pillow.
I don't love it, but it functions as a decent back rest on our ottoman when we have extra people over. And since we're living the poor-college-student life, it will just have to do for now.
Most days the poor pillow sees a fair amount of abuse from Miriam and Owen. She loves to jump on it and Owen uses it as a floor pillow. So, in the last four years since we've had it, it has taken on the ability to mold into new shapes, such as this fantastic hat/wig.
I think it looks better on Owen, what do you think? It's definitely got the potential to be an awesome Halloween costume!
And while I'm bringing holidays that are far in the future...8 months till Christmas. Just thought you'd wanna know.

Silly Shoes
Miriam is a crack up and she makes me laugh often. The other day she got into my oven mitts.
First, you've got to get them on.
Then you need to roll around to make sure they're on good and tight.
Once you're sure they won't come off, you can take them for a stroll.

So sweet!
Have you ever had one of those days? You know, where your children whine and whine and whine allllll day long and you're just ready to scream back at them because you just can't take it anymore? That was my yesterday. And just when I was about to my breaking point, I hear Miriam in the other room "reading" to Liesl.
Just a little reminder of how sweet my little Miriam is...when she wants to be. It was just what I needed right then.
